My friends are so depressed

I am still giddy from the New Year celebrations, but already some of my friends are feeling blue about going back to work and putting their noses against the almighty grindstone. I can’t really relate because I worked, on and off, during the holiday season. I am taking my annual leave in February, when all the tourists have gone home and all the malls have returned to their normal capacity.

As I count the days, I’m thinking of all the things I’m going to spend time on. A full body massage is high on the list. A movie marathon is a priority. Afternoon naps are up there. I also want to read the books I got for Christmas (Scarpetta by Patricia Cornwell and The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood). I have no doubt that many hours will be spent doing considerably less, but that’s fine, too.

The title of this post is borrowed from the lyrics of My Friends by The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Find the song on
